Get Ready With Me: Emporium Arcade & Bar

Gig day. Let’s go.

First stop—playlist prep. I’m digging through my crates pulling a little bit of everything: some soft jams and bounce to start the night started, hip-hop and R&B, and house bangers for when the floor really starts jumping. I even threw in a few curveballs just to keep people guessing.

Next up—gear check. Laptop’s loaded, cue points are set, USB backups ready to go. Headphones? Packed. Extra cables? Packed. Control vinyl? Packed. If it’s in the bag, it’s been tested. I don’t roll with surprises—at least not the bad kind.

I like to get to Emporium Arcade & Bar early. Sound check, booth check, quick feel of the mixer. Every setup’s a little different and I want zero stress when I hit play. Then it’s go time. I start reading the room, easing into the set with some groove, then switching gears. At Emporium, the crowd’s a wild mix—gamers, locals, tourists—so I keep it unpredictable.
